Gaming, 4K streaming and high-resolution audio
Developed to meet the ever-growing demands of high-resolution audio and video transmission, HDMI 2.1 offers end users a wide range of benefits:
HDMI 2.1 supports a maximum bandwidth of 48 Gbit/s, compared with 18 Gbit/s for HDMI 2.0. This considerable increase allows 4K and even 8K content to be transmitted at higher frame rates and with deeper colour contrast. Content with resolutions of up to 10K at 120 Hz can be transmitted. Support for VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) is also new. It allows the refresh rate to be adjusted dynamically to ensure smoother images and reduce stuttering and tearing in games and videos.
eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) enables high-resolution audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X to be transmitted over HDMI, resulting in improved sound quality and a more immersive listening experience. Quick Media Switching (QMS) considerably reduces the delay when switching between different audio and video sources, resulting in a more seamless and responsive user experience.
HDMI 2.1 is particularly suitable for applications that require high-resolution video and audio transmission, such as gaming and home cinema, but also professional environments such as film production or medical settings.
Benefits at a glance:
